WINCHESTER, Va. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team blanked Shenandoah 2-0 in non-conference action at Glo Fiber Field at Shentel Stadium to get back over the .500 mark on Wednesday night, Sept. 27.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (4-3-3) used one marker in the first half and another after the break, along with a strong defensive effort, to secure a valuable non-conference road victory over Shenandoah (3-3-2) on Wednesday night.

After more than 30 scoreless minutes, the Lions broke through when Alexander Benbatoul chested down a bouncing ball and ripped an attempt into the back of the net from 35 yards out to convert the eventual game winner with 9:55 left before halftime.

The visitors added an insurance marker early in the second half when Kobe Harris raced down the left side and beat a defender to a ball before crossing it in front for a driving Daniel Fombu who finished the play off with a touch that skirted past Shenandoah goalkeeper Travis Jett in the 57th minute.

Thanks to a stingy defensive performance by the Lions, the Hornets managed just one shot on goal the rest of the way and Penn State Harrisburg goalkeeper Marcus Goodley made the stop to preserve the clean sheet.
