Men's Soccer Hangs On For Draw With Lancaster Bible

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team withstood a late charge from United East foe Lancaster Bible to hold on for a 3-3 tie in conference play on Wednesday night, Oct. 5. 

 

The Lions (5-2-5, 2-0-2 United East) led 3-0 as late as the 80th minute but the Chargers (6-3-2, 3-1-1 United East) mounted a furious comeback beginning with a penalty kick with 9:47 remaining. The visitors kept the pressure on and followed it up with back-to-back goals off corner kick sets in a span of just 1:14, culminating with the equalizer with just 4:21 remaining.

 

Luke Myers tallied three points on the night thanks to a goal and an assist, as he provided the helper on Kobe Harris' strike in the 25th minute before beautifully converting his own marker from distance to put Penn State Harrisburg ahead by three in the 64th minute. Daniel Rossiter provided the team's second goal of the night off an assist from Marc Rodgers in the 60th minute.

 

NOTABLES

- The tie was Penn State Harrisburg's fifth of the season; a new single-season program record.

- Thanks to his goal and assist, Myers has now racked up 11 total points this season.

- Harris' first-half strike was his sixth marker of the fall.

- Rossiter's goal was his first as a Penn State Harrisburg player.

- The Chargers finished with a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.

- Lancaster Bible finished with a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. 

- The teams combined for eight yellow cards.
