Men's Soccer Victorious In Conference Opener

ABINGTON, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team used a pair of second-half goals to pull away from Penn State Abington and secure a 3-1 victory in the team's United East opener on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 18.

HOW IT HAPPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (3-1, 1-0 United East) scored first, fended off a charge from Penn State Abington (2-3, 0-1 United East), and tallied a pair of markers in the second half to seal a win in each team's conference opener on Saturday.

Following a yellow card on Penn State Abington midway through the opening half, Ben Stuckert took advantage of the miscue by burying the ensuing free kick in the game's 26th minute to put the visiting Lions on the board first.

The home team responded little more than two minutes later, however, as Michael Thomas converted the equalizer off assists from Elijo Agollo and Colin Ounan to knot things up with 16:13 left remaining in the first half.

It didn't take long for the visitors to pull back in front after halftime. Just 3:25 into the second half, Tyler Madairy put Penn State Harrisburg ahead for the second time thanks to a goal following a corner kick in the 48th minute.

Justin Elnahrawy put an exclamation point on the scoring and put the game out of reach when he buried an insurance goal in the 79th minute.
