Albers Named United East Defensive Player of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. – Thanks to his performance in a season-opening victory on Friday afternoon, Penn State Harrisburg's Michael Albers has been named the United East Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

In a 5-0 shutout victory over Clarks Summit in the team's season-opener, Albers netted his first goal as a Penn State Harrisburg player off a corner kick insertion from Jose Palomeque in the game's 33rd minute. In addition to his first-half marker, the Southampton, Pa. native contributed to a defensive unit that smothered the Defender attack and surrendered just two shots to the visitors, with neither attempt coming on frame.

Albers and the rest of the Lions return to action when they host Rosemont on Thursday evening, Sept. 9. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
