Harrisburg Forced to Battle in First CAC Match

St. Mary's, Md. – The Lions traveled to St. Mary's for their first Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) game on Saturday September 23rd.  In a physical contest that had both teams receiving a few yellow cards and the referee staying busy calling fouls, the Lions fell short 1-0 to the Seahawks.

Harrisburg and St. Mary's were dead even in shots at nine a piece, but the most relevant stat was the 48 fouls called.  This created a match where restarts were key.  The Seahawks used one of their restarts to play a well-timed run into the box for the 1-0 lead in the 65th minute.  The Lions had their best effort to tie stolen by the St. Mary's goalkeeper late in the second half after a quality Victor Weaver free kick from 19 yards out.

The Lions have a busy week to respond as they host Lancaster Bible on Monday September 25th, Susquehanna Wednesday September 27th and Southern Virginia on Saturday September 30th.
