Two Named to CAC All-Conference Team

YORK, Pa. - Christopher Newport senior midfielder Jimmy Grace became just the third player in Capital Athletic Conference history to collect Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors throughout his career and headlines the 2016 All-CAC Men's Soccer team.

The other major awards went to St. Mary's freshman Khalid Balogun, who was named Rookie of the Year, and Mary Washington head coach Jason Kilby, who earned Coach of the Year honors for the second time in his career (also in 2012).

Grace joined Stevenson's Ansger Otto (ROY in 2009, POY in 2010) and St. Mary's Alun Oliver (ROY in 2000, POY in 2002) as the only CAC players to secure both Player and Rookie of the Year awards. Grace's honor marks the third time in the last four seasons that a CNU player has been named Player of the Year. Grace's former teammate Jalon Brown took home the award in 2013 and 2014.

The CAC champion Captains led the All-CAC squad with a conference-leading six selections, including four on the first team. Along with Grace, senior defender Harry Nodwell, junior midfielder Andrew Gogolin, and sophomore forward Stephen Durbin were tabbed as first-team all-stars. Nodwell earned his third-straight first-team nod, while Gogolin and Durbin secure all-conference recognition for the first time.

CNU senior forward Patrick Burns and sophomore defender Bobby Seifert rounded out the All-CAC honorees for the Captains as second-team selections. Burns (1st in '15, 1st in '14) claimed his third career honor, while Seifert was named an all-star for the first time.

CAC runner-up Mary Washington placed five players on the all-conference squad. The Mary Washington trio of senior forward Jacob Burke, sophomore midfielder Jack Saslowski, and junior defender Colin Travis were first-teamers, marking the first all-conference honors each. Landing on the second team for UMW were senior forward Riley Fisher and sophomore defender Gary Foley. Fisher is a three-time All-CAC pick, having earned first-team honors in 2014 and second-team accolades in 2013.

St. Mary's also received five All-CAC selections, led by Rookie of the Year Balogun, 2015 Player of the Year Nick Tait and sophomore midfielder Juwan Kearson on the first team. Balogun became the fifth Seahawk to claim Rookie of the Year and second in the last three years. Tait, a senior midfielder, earned his fourth-consecutive all-conference award, including three years on the first team. Kearson was named to the all-star team for the second year in a row after claiming second-team accolades in 2015.

Landing on the second team for St. Mary's were junior defender Andrew Battin and junior goalkeeper Zack Haussler. Battin was also a first-team pick in 2014.

Frostburg State senior Hassan Mostafa was named the All-CAC first team goalkeeper for the third-straight year, highlighting a three-player contingent of Bobcats who received all-star recognition. Sophomore midfielder Ernie Williams and sophomore defender Brett Basham were named to the second team for Frostburg State, both earning all-conference honors for the first time.

York also placed a trio on the all-conference team, led by junior defender Ryan Ockford on the first team. Two Spartans were picked as second-teamers - senior forward Matt Freibaum and sophomore midfielder Nathan Bilbie

Penn State Harrisburg senior forward Jonathan Majin and junior midfielder Victor Weaver were both named to the All-CAC second team. It was the first all-star award for both players.

Marymount was represented on the squad by sophomore defender Rodney Ngoh, who secured first-team accolades for the second-straight season.
