Lions Drop CAC Opener to St. Mary's

Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg opened up conference play Saturday versus CAC foe St. Mary's.  The lions got off to a slow start giving up two goals in the first 15 minutes of play and were not able to right the ship after that.  Despite a tough effort by Harrisburg to get back into the game, it just wasn't enough to give the lions their seventh win of the season as they drop to 6-2 on the year.

St. Mary's was able to pounce on the lions early in the contest scoring less than five minutes into the game.  The Seahawks added a second goal ten minutes later putting the lions in a 2-0 hole early in the first half.  Strong efforts by defenders Mike Jones (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) and Jonathon Vanaskie (Shamokin, Pa./Shamokin) kept the game within reach for the lions who attempted to claw their way back into the contest.  Penn State just did not have enough to come from behind and pull of the comeback.

"Fair play to St. Mary's, they came in with a gameplan and it worked." Coach Donnelly stated after the game. "We have some things to work on for sure, but we will get back at it Monday and hopefully put on a better show Wednesday."

Harrisburg will look to turn things around on Wedneday versus Penn State Abington before hitting the road for their second CAC match with Southern Virginia October 4th.
