Harrisburg Off To Roaring Start

Chestertown, Md. – The Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer team is off to an unbelievable start after winning their third straight game to remain unbeaten at 3-0.  Their most recent victory came with a plethora of goals in a 4-1 win over the Delaware Valley Aggies.

Harrisburg used two first half goals during a five minute span between the 25th and 30th minute to take a 2-0 lead over the home team early on.  The first goal came from Jonathan Vanaskie (Shamokin, Pa. / Shamokin Area) off a header; while Ricardo Quintana (Pachuquilla, Mexico / Avon Grove) scored the second off a pass from Jimmy Bilger (Slatington, Pa. / Northern Lehigh).

The Aggies were not about to hand the game over to the Blue and White and responded in the 66th minute when a quality finish from Peter Tantillo put Delaware Valley within reach 2-1.  Play stayed tight and competitive, but eventually the Lions who outshot the Aggies 16-3 were able to put the finishing touches on a well-played game.

In the final twelve minutes two more goals came for the visiting Lions. Bilger added a goal to his earlier assist tally and Alex West (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Lancaster Mennonite) scored his first goal of his collegiate career from the PK spot to put the game away.  Defensively the Lions central defender Mike Jones (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) led the effort to hold back the Aggie's offensive threats for most of the night.

The Lions return home this weekend to face Hood College (1-2) Saturday September 13th for a 2:00 kickoff.
