Penn State Harrisburg Opens Nittany Place Field

Penn State Harrisburg Opens Nittany Place Field

Throughout the 2015 season, the men’s and women’s soccer teams have been using the original soccer field that was created for Penn State Harrisburg’s campus. Today, the men’s soccer team will be the first team to play on the new field, Nittany Place.

The original field that teams have been using is not long or wide enough for playoff games. This has forced the ECAC championship games to be played at Hershey Park Arena. Thanks to the creation of the new field, Penn State Harrisburg’s teams will get the chance to host their playoff games at home. This will allow more students, faculty, and families to come out and support the Nittany Lions. While the field is primarily designed for men’s and women’s soccer, it will benefit all of the department’s athletics programs.

Athletic Director Rahsaan Carlton is just one of the many staff members who is excited about the new field, “We very excited about Nittany Place field.  Its going to provide our soccer student athletes with a great new field on which to compete and our spectators and fans with a fantastic venue to watch the games.”

The men’s soccer team will take on Wesley this afternoon at 4 pm. This coming weekend is Senior Day for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams. It will be a great day for both teams to play on Nittany Place while also celebrating the careers of several seniors.
