Most recently, he served as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator under longtime head coach Brad McAlester at LVC and helped develop two-time all-region selection and 2021 MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year Collin Jones. He also served as the athletic department's Athletic Diversity Inclusion Designee, created a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) mentorship program for student-athletes, and was recognized for his efforts with an inclusive excellence award from the school’s president’s office.

Cabrera was named the head coach at Mount Aloysius in 2017 and immediately led the program to new heights. In 2018-19, he guided the Mounties to their first winning season in six years. That winter, Mount Aloysius also hosted a postseason game for the first time in program history, while Carlos Palacio was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Newcomer of the Year. Cabrera’s teams were especially potent on the defensive end and ranked top-30 in the nation in points allowed per game in three consecutive seasons.

Before making the jump to Mount Aloysius, Cabrera served as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator at Lebanon Valley for two seasons beginning in 2015. With Cabrera’s help, the Flying Dutchmen made back-to-back postseason runs, while standouts Sam Light and Andy Orr combined to earn a pair of all-America honors, 11 all-region plaudits, and four all-conference first-team selections.

Cabrera joined LVC after a season as head coach at Impact Preparatory in York, Pa. He also spent time as an assistant at Division II Mansfield for two seasons beginning in 2012. Prior to joining the Mountaineer staff, Cabrera spent three seasons as an assistant on the sidelines at Messiah, his alma mater. At both stops, he also served as recruiting coordinator.

Before joining the college ranks, Cabrera was the head coach at Hershey Christian and served as an assistant for the Bolivian national team. He's also worked a number of basketball camps, most notably as a coach and counselor for Hoop Group Elite Camps every summer since 2009.

Cabrera was born in Paraguay and spent his early years growing up and playing basketball in Bolivia. He graduated from Messiah with a bachelor's of science in human development and family education in 2007. He played three seasons for the Falcons after transferring from NAIA College of Notre Dame in California. He currently resides in nearby Annville, Pa. with his daughter, Lexi.
