Volleyball Sweeps Conference Tri-Match On Senior Day

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team celebrated the program's Senior Day by sweeping a pair of United East foes in St. Mary's (Md.) and Wells at the Capital Union Building on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 16.

 

The Lions (12-8, 2-2 United East) handled St. Mary's (Md.) by set scores of 25-21, 25-13, 25-9 in the day's opening contest before taking care of Wells 25-13, 25-13, 25-11 in the final outing of the afternoon.

 

In the opener, Penn State Harrisburg outlasted the Seahawks (6-11, 1-2 United East) in the first set before rolling to back-to-back victories in the second and third games to seal the team's first win of the day. Emmaline Stevens reached the double-digit kill mark, while Olivia Koicuba did the same in the digs department.

 

The second match saw the Lions waste little time jumping out to a massive advantage against the Express (10-10, 1-3 United East). Penn State Harrisburg rolled to identical 25-13 victories in the first two sets before leaving no doubt in a double-digit win in the final game. Anna Ruff led the way with a dozen kills and Alyssa Snyder racked up more than 40 assists.

 

NOTABLES
- Penn State Harrisburg has won three straight matches by 3-0 scores.

- Snyder racked up 42 assists against Wells after tallying 32 in the opener.

- Stevens finished with 11 kills against the Seahawks after recording 10 in the opener.

- Ruff had a match-high 12 kills in the final match.

- Koicuba dug out a dozen balls against the Express after registering 11 against St. Mary's (Md.).

- Tori Henderson added 10 kills in the win over Wells.

- Prior to the match, Penn State Harrisburg honored Megan Morris, Ruff, Grace Jentsch, Koicuba, Alexa Henry, and Snyder as part of the program's Senior Day ceremony.
