Women's Volleyball Suffers Setback at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team fell to Elizabethtown in three sets in non-conference action on Tuesday night, Oct. 12.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (12-7) suffered a setback to Elizabethtown (14-5) on Tuesday night, falling in three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-10, and 25-14. Megan Morris racked up 16 digs, Alyssa Snyder had 19 assists, and Cheyanna Buckingham and Emmaline Stevens tallied seven kills apiece.

The Blue Jays jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the opening set but the Blue & White were able to cut the deficit to 15-11 midway through the game. Etown stretched the advantage back to nine but the Lions put together a 5-1 run that included kills by Buckingham and Tiniira Tubo to stay alive. An ensuing attack error proved costly, however, and the home team held on to take the first set.

The second set remained tight until Etown stretched a 12-7 lead to a 23-9 advantage thanks to a decisive 12-2 run. Buckingham ended the stretch with a kill off an Alyssa Snyder assist but it proved too little too late and the Blue Jays closed things out moments later.

The third and final set began similarly to the first two and remained competitive for the early portion of the game. Trailing 14-12, the Lions watched as the home team strung together a 10-1 run that swung the momentum firmly to the side of the Blue Jays and allowed them to clinch the third set victory and take the overall match.
