How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg fell in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action for the first time this season when the Lions dropped a four setter at Penn State Berks on Tuesday evening, Oct. 1.

An early run by Penn State Berks (8-9. 2-2 NEAC) to begin the first set put the visitors in a hole that they were unable to climb out of, with the home team stretching its advantage to double digits midway through the match before closing things out with a service ace.

The second set saw Penn State Harrisburg (9-6, 3-1 NEAC)  bounce back and make an 8-3 run near the game's midpoint that included kills from Alexis Imler, Brittany Ebaugh and Anna Ruff. The Blue & White kept the throttle down and eventually used a service ace from Megan Morris and a Katelyn Kreider kill to close things out.

Despite keeping things close for the duration of the third set, the Lions saw their chances of victory slip away when Penn State Berks turned a three-point advantage into a 5-2 run to end the set and take back the overall lead.

The visitors were right in the fourth set in the early going, trailing 9-8 before Penn State Berks went on a game-changing 13-0 run that essentially wrapped things up.

Inside the Numbers

- Penn State Berks tallied 44 kills on the night, compared to 30 for the visitors.

- Thanks to her 10.5 points in the match, Brittany Ebaugh became the first player in program history to reach the 1,000 total points mark for her career.

- Ebaugh led the Lions in kills (7) and total blocks (5).

- Corrinne Cook led the way defensively with 14 digs.

- Katelyn Kreider had nine digs and Megan Morris added seven.

- Alyssa Snyder tallied 13 assists, while Alexis Imler posted 10.

- Cheyanna Buckingham and Anna Ruff each recorded six kills.

The Lions return to the Capital Union Building for tri-match action on Saturday, Oct. 5. Penn State Harrisburg hosts Stevenson at 12 p.m. before wrapping up the day against Wesley at 4 p.m.
