How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg kept its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) record spotless thanks to a four-set victory over Penn College at the Capital Union Building on Thursday night, Sept. 26.

All three sets the Lions (9-5, 3-0 NEAC) won came by double-digit margins, as the Blue & White took the match by scores of 25-13, 25-12, 17-25 and 25-12. Brittany Ebaugh racked up 10 kills and six blocks, Katelyn Kreider dug out 11 balls and Alexis Imler had 21 assists.

The first set saw the home team erase a slim deficit in the early going and start to pull away midway through the game. Leading 13-9, Penn State Harrisburg closed it out with a decisive 12-4 run capped by an Ebaugh solo block on a Hannah Burnett attack.

It was more of the same in the second set, with the Blue & White jumping out to an 8-2 advantage following back-to-back service aces from Megan Morris. Then the hitters got into the act, with Anna Ruff, Kreider, Ebaugh and Cheyanna Buckingham registering kills that pushed the lead to double digits before Morris closed out the set with another ace.

After dropping the third set, the Lions answered with another impressive effort in the final game. In the blink of an eye the lead was 6-2 and kills from Ebaugh and Imler pushed the advantage to 16-8 midway through the set. From there, home team closed it out with a 9-4 run to seal the victory.
