Randy Hood Named Penn State Harrisburg Women’s Volleyball Head Coach

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – On Friday afternoon, Aug. 1, Penn State Harrisburg Athletic Director Rahsaan Carlton announced that Randy Hood has accepted the position of Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball head coach.  Hood has over 20 years of coaching experience at the college and high school levels, including a stint as head coach at Shippensburg University.

"We're really excited to bring Randy on board," said Carlton.  "He has coached at the college level in the past and really he understands the importance of developing the whole student-athlete.  He's going to be a great addition to our staff."

Hood's spent six years at Shippensburg from 1998-2004 and led the Raiders to two Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference (PSAC) tournament quarterfinal appearances in 2000 and 2003.  He also has plenty of experience at the high school level, including head coaching stops at local schools in Carlisle, Big Spring and most recently, Boiling Springs.  Hood also spent a year as an assistant on staff at Messiah College in 1993.

The ladies' 2014 campaign gets underway on Friday afternoon, Aug. 29 when they take on McDaniel at Gettysburg College's season-opening Battlefield Classic.
