Women's Tennis Sweeps Penn College

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team swept conference opponent Penn College 9-0 on Friday afternoon, April 5. 

 

The Lions (7-6, 2-0 United East) won all three doubles matches to set the stage for their eventual sweep. Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis defeated Penn College's Faith Murray and Georgia Macensky 8-0 in the top outing. The No. 2 duo of Olivia Bandini and Sophia Bandini held off Ellen Buckley and Kayla Weinzierl in an 8-0 victory, while Anita Liu and Sarah Shaub rolled to an 8-0 decision over Rylee Oliphant and Makayla Bucks in the third contest. 

 

That momentum carried over into singles completion, with Wootton besting Buckley 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 slot at the top of the lineup. O. Bandini took care of Murray 6-0, 6-1 in the second contest, DeSantis went over Macensky 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 matchup, and Liu cruised to 6-0, 6-0 win in the fourth outing. Hailey Dey handled Oliphant 6-1, 6-0 in the fifth slot and Shaub secured the clean sheet with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Ginny Yost in the No. 6 matchup. 

 

The Blue & White continue conference play as they travel to Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon, April 6. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
