Women's Tennis Falls to Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team fell to non-conference opponent Gettysburg 8-1 on Friday afternoon, March 29. 

 

Anita Liu secured the team's lone victory when she defeated Gettysburg's Emma Ward in the No. 5 singles contest that went three sets and ended 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (15-13).

 

In doubles action, Penn State Harrisburg (5-6) saw Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis topped by Gettysburg's Andrea Brazyte and Avery Palandijian in the top outing 8-4. Olivia Bandini and Sophia Bandini were bested in the No. 3 matchup 8-1, while Liu and Sarah Shaub dropped an 8-6 decision in the final doubles contest of the day. 

 

Gettysburg (7-2) continued their strong play in singles, as Wootton, O. Bandini, and Breanna DeSantis fell to their counterparts in the top half of the lineup, while S. Bandini and Hailey Dey also came up short in the No. 4 and No. 6 outings, respectively. 

 

The Lions are set to host their first United East conference matchup of the season against Lancaster Bible on Saturday, March 30. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
