Women's Tennis Rolls In Sweep of Penn State Abington

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team continued its strong play as of late with a 9-0 sweep of conference foe Penn State Abington at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon, April 16.

 

Doubles action saw Olivia Bandini and Breanna DeSantis earn an 8-3 win over Tina Sadzaglishvili and Elizabeth Turner in the No. 1 contest, while the No. 2 duo of Sarah Shaub and Gabrielle Sabatose and No. 3 pairing of Cassandra Ginder and Carissa Fallon each recorded 8-1 victories in their respective outings.

 

In singles play, Bandini led Sadzaglishvili 6-3 after one set in the top matchup before the latter retired and DeSantis rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Turner in the No. 2 contest. Shaub picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at third singles, while Sabatose secured a 6-3, 6-1 decision in the No. 4 outing. Ginder handled Penn State Abington's Isabella DePorre in the fifth matchup and Fallon made it a clean sweep for Penn State Harrisburg with a 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 6 contest.

 

Riding a three-match win streak, the Lions (5-4, 2-0 United East) will host United East foe St. Mary's (Md.) in their final regular season home match on Tuesday afternoon.
