Women's Tennis Defeats York (Pa.) for First Time Ever

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule with a 5-4 victory over York (Pa.) at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon, March 20. The win over their former conference foes is the first in program history for the Lions.

 

The Blue & White (2-4) took two of three in doubles action, with the team of Samantha Bogush and Isabella Pizzelanti earning an 8-6 victory over the visitors' Brianna Rohrer and Morrissey Walsh in the No. 2 outing, while Sarah Shaun and Annalisa Petrascu were victorious 8-5 over Michaela Sentz and Kelsey Sheets in the No. 3 contest. 

 

Bogush went over Sentz 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles match and Breanna DeSantis rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 win against Lauren Ostermann in the No. 3 solo contest. Pizzelanti helped clinch the over team victory with her 6-1, 6-4 win over Rohrer in the No. 3 singles matchup.

 

The Lions will look to keep the momentum rolling when they host Division II Kutztown for a match at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon, March 24. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
