Women's Tennis Sweeps Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg women's tennis picked up a key road victory over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Lancaster Bible in impressive fashion on Saturday afternoon, April 17, sweeping the Chargers 9-0. With the win, the Lions put themselves in the driver's seat for playoff positioning for the upcoming NEAC Tournament.

 

After a week off, Rachael Lim and Sydney Nye picked up where they left off and continued to work well together in the No. 1 doubles contest, as the pair defeated LBC's Deanna Graber and Cara DiCiano 8-3. In the second doubles outing, Olivia Hitz and Isabella Pizzelanti pulled away for an 8-4 victory over Haylee Fishel and Kenedi Berkhimer. The Blue & White made it a clean sweep in doubles thanks to an 8-1 win for Gabrielle Sabatose and Mary Connolly over Katilin Kirby and Chloe Campbell in the No.3 match.

 

The momentum carried over into singles action for Penn State Harrisburg and Lim made quick work of Graber, claiming a 6-1, 6-1 decision in the top matchup. Nye gritted out a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win in the No. 2 contest to remain unbeaten on the spring, while Hitz handled Fishel 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 matchup. Sabatose downed Berkhimer 6-2, 6-0 in the fourth solo outing and Annalisa Petrascu was nearly perfect in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kirby in the fifth contest. Pizzelanti put the finishing touches on the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Campbell in the No. 6 matchup.

 

The Lions will get right back to action when they travel to Penn College for another conference match on Sunday afternoon, April 18.
