Women's Tennis Rolls Lancaster Bible

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team was nearly perfect in an 8-1 non-conference victory over Lancaster Bible in the team's home finale at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon, April 18.

 

In doubles play, the Lions (8-10) completed the sweep with the top team of Sydney Nye and Elysse Mellot earning an 8-6 win against LBC's Greta Strunk and Kayla Hubbard, Maria Torre and Courtney Bennett topping Michaela Dearborn and Haylee Fishel 8-6 in the No. 2 matchup, and Abigail Clifford and Erin Harnish rolling to an 8-2 decision against Sarah Wetzel and Kenedi Berkhimer.

 

Nye, the reigning Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the Week, erased an early deficit to claim a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory in the No. 1 outing, while Torre finished off her Senior Day with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the second contest. Mellott came away with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 3 spot, Bennett went 6-1, 6-4 over Wetzel in the fifth spot and Clifford picked up a 7-5, 7-5 victory in the No. 6 contest.

 

The Blue & White finish off their regular season with a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) match at Southern Virginia on Saturday afternoon, April 20.
