Middletown, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's 2014-15 season is officially underway. The women's blue and white defeated Cairn College 7-2 in their home season opener Tuesday evening.
The Lions took four out of six singles matches with dominating wins by Shawna Brandt (Jonestown, Pa. / Northern Lebanon), Alyssia Deutsch, Aiba Diaby (Bladensburg, Md. / Bladensburg), and Sherry Wang (Fryeburg Academy). Penn State continued their hot start into the double portion of the match taking all three matches in convincing fashion.
This impressive victory is just what the Lions needed to start of their young season. With such a youthful roster, starting the season off with a win will definitely instill confidence into this young blue and white squad moving forward. Harrisburg will next face off against Goucher at home Wednesday September 17 at 3:30.
