Avramidis Earns NEAC Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – For the second-straight week, Penn State Harrisburg tennis made it a clean sweep.  The Blue & White's Theodora Avramidis (Glenwood, N.J. / Vernon Township) joined her male counterpart in senior Joshua Cartmill (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) in being named the North Eastern Athletic Conference's (NEAC) Student-Athlete of the Week for the time period ending Sunday, Mar. 31.

Avramidis earned the league honor thanks to her stout effort in the ladies' 9-0 victory over NEAC foe Cazenovia in the Lions' 2013 conference-opener on Friday, Mar. 29.  The senior began the day by pairing with last week's Women's Tennis Student-Athlete the Week, Gabrielle LeGendre (East Stroudsburg, Pa. / Notre Dame), and topping the Wildcats' number one doubles team of Katelyn Fragnoli and Francesca Domano 8-5.  Avramidis made quick work of Domano in singles action thanks to her strong 6-1, 6-1 victory.

The win bumped Avramidis passed the .500 mark for the year (5-4) in singles play and her tandem victory with LeGendre improves the pair to 4-5 on the season.  The ladies are next in action this Saturday, Apr. 6 when the Lions host another NEAC opponent in St. Elizabeth.
