Butler, Galbreath Earn United East All-Conference Honors

LATHAM, N.Y. - Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball players Kendis Butler and Jayla Galbreath have earned United East All-Conference recognition.

Butler was named to the all-conference first team for the second straight season, while Galbreath captured second-team all-conference honors.

Butler is currently in the midst of a stellar senior campaign. The sharpshooting guard is Penn State Harrisburg's top scorer, averaging 14 points per game. She's pulling down 3.3 rebounds and dishing out two assists per contest, while her 1.8 steals per game average is the best of her career. The York, Pa. native ranks fifth in the nation with 80 total 3-pointers made this season. She also ranks ninth in the country in 3-pointers made per game (3.3). Earlier this month, Butler became the fastest player in program history to score 1,000 career points (72 games) and just the third Penn State Harrisburg player to achieve the feat. Her most-recent first-team all-conference honor comes after she earned the same accolade following the 2019-20 season.

Galbreath finds herself in the midst of a breakout junior campaign. The versatile guard is averaging 11.3 points per contest and she leads the Lions with a 3.3 assists per game mark. The Shrewsbury, Pa. native has knocked down 53 3-balls this season and she's shooting 39 percent from beyond the arc; a number good enough to rank her 29th in the nation. Her 1.74 assist-to-turnover ratio is tops in the conference and strong enough to rank 59th among NCAA Division III players. Thanks to her efforts earlier this season, Galbreath was named the United East Player of the Week in late November (11/29).

After earning the No. 3 seed in the upcoming United East Championship Tournament, the Lions (16-8) will face No. 2 SUNY Morrisville in the tourney's semifinal round at top-seeded Gallaudet on Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
