Women's Hoops Completes Season Sweep of Berks

READING, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team completed the regular-season sweep of United East foe Penn State Berks thanks to a convincing 76-32 road victory on Monday night, Feb. 7.

HOW IT HAPPENED

For the second time in three days, Penn State Harrisburg (13-7, 8-4 United East) handled conference foe Penn State Berks (0-18, 0-11 United East) in dominant fashion.

Kendis Butler torched the twine in the victory, shooting 75 percent from beyond the arc to score a team-high 18 points. Jenna Montana netted 10 and swiped three steals, while Bailey Strawser added a career-high seven points off the bench. Jayla Galbreath, Anna Mahan, Toni Amato, and Giahny Correa chipped in with six points apiece.

The Lions jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the opening minutes following a steal and score by Montana at the 6:12 mark. The home team scored the next four points but Butler halted the run with back-to-back 3-balls before a Mahan jumper pushed the advantage to 20-4. Butler and Galbreath closed out the quarter by combining for three straight triples to end the frame and make it 29-4 after one.

Macy Carroll and Paige Kubulak kept the 3-point parade rolling to begin the second quarter before an old-fashioned 3-point play from Strawser made it 40-6 with 4:20 left before halftime. Correa buried a pair of jumpers from deep and Montana added another to extend the advantage to 39 at the break.

It was more of the same in the third quarter, with Montana, Butler, and Amato all connecting from distance to keep the hot shooting rolling. Butler connected with Mahan for a layup before Alli Walton converted two of her own and the visitors led by 50-plus heading into the final frame.

The Blue & White slowed things down in the fourth, sharing the basketball and bleeding the clock. Kayla Cade was the final Penn State Harrisburg player to hit from 3-point territory and Strawser capped the team's scoring with a layup in the final three minutes.
