Women's Hoops Sets Six Program Records In Win Over Berks

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – It was a record-breaking night at the Capital Union Building, as Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team set new program marks for points in a game, field goals, 3-point field goals, field goal percentage, assists, and steals in a 112-35 victory over United East foe Penn State Berks on Saturday, Feb. 5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (12-7, 7-4 United East) broke six program records in a mammoth victory over Penn State Berks (0-17, 0-10 United East) on Saturday afternoon.

Kendis Butler buried seven 3-pointers en route to scoring a game-high 21 points, while Toni Amato (16), Jayla Galbreath (15), Jenna Montana (13), Anna Mahan (12), and Macy Carroll (11) all reached double digits as well. Mahan flirted with a double-double, finishing with a game-high eight rebounds.

The Lions set the tone early by racing out to a 19-0 lead less than three minutes into the opening frame. Triples fell at a rapid pace, as Galbreath, Butler, and Montana all connected from distance during the offensive flurry. Amato got into the scoring act, reeling off 11 straight to push the advantage to 41-9 at the 2:30 mark.

After putting up 46 points in the first, the Blue & White continued the onslaught in the second quarter, stretching the lead to 40-plus with a layup from Sydney Hemler with 3:38 left until halftime. Butler sank two more treys, including one in the closing seconds of the first half to make it 69-24 at the break.

Penn State Harrisburg crossed the 80-point threshold early in the second half when Montana connected from beyond the arc at the 6:43 mark and Butler's final trifecta of the day ballooned the lead to 61 late in the third quarter.
