Mattis Earns All-CAC First-Team Honors

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Thanks to her outstanding efforts on the court this season, Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball player Shanique Mattis has earned first-team all-conference recognition from the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC).

Mattis has been named to the CAC All-Conference First Team following an impressive 2018-19 campaign. It is the first all-conference accolade of her career.

The senior led the Lions in scoring this season, averaging 15.7 points per game; a number good enough to rank her third in the conference. The versatile guard led the league in steals with a 3.2 swipes per game average. The Philadelphia native was also tops in the conference in 3-pointers made (68), while ranking sixth among CAC players by averaging 2.9 assists per game. Mattis also ranked in the top 10 in the league in field goals made (134) and minutes per game (30.8). In a victory at St. Mary's (Md.) earlier this month, she set the single-game program record for 3-pointers made with seven.

Southern Virginia's Katie Garrish was named the CAC Player of the Year, while Christopher Newport's Sondra Fan earned CAC Rookie of the Year honors. CNU's Bill Broderick was voted the "Bill Finney" CAC Coach of the Year by his peers.
