How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg could not find its offensive rhythm in the second half, falling to Mary Washington 66-28 on Saturday afternoon. Shanique Mattis and Kendis Butler, who each scored six points, led the Lions in scoring.

The opening minutes of the game were fasted paced with the teams trading baskets. Butler would knock down the Lions first 3-pointer of the game, giving Harrisburg a 7-6 advantage. The Eagles would respond by going on an 11-0 run to capture the momentum. Laurel Amey closed out the quarter with her first 3-pointer of the day, cutting the deficit to seven heading to the second quarter.

Shanique Mattis started to find her rhythm in the second quarter, putting back an offensive rebound for her first points of the game. On the next possession, Mattis would knock down a 3-pointer, pulling the Blue & White back within eight points. The Eagles would respond with an offensive flurry, building their lead to as large as 17 points. Butler would end an Eagles' run with her second 3-pointer of the game. Aireo Payne then knocked down a jump shot but the Lions still found themselves trailing 37-22 heading into halftime.

The Lions offense struggled to find any traction in the second half, as the Eagles defense prevented Harrisburg's best perimeter shooters from getting open looks. As a result, the Lions were held just six points in the second half, falling 66-28 

Inside the Numbers

- Shanique Mattis and Kendis Butler led the Lions in scoring with six points each.

- The Eagles were led by Jordan Pamlanye, who scored 15 points and gathered in 11 rebounds.

- Penn State Harrisburg has now connected on 232 3-point attempts this season, ranking them in the top ten in the nation.

The Lions will be in action when they travel to St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.
