Middletown, Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg Lady Lions hosted the York Spartans December 3rd for their home opener of the season as well as their first Capital Athletic Conference contest of the year.  Making a dramatic second half comeback the Lions then cruised to a 71-62 win.

The Spartans got things started off early with a 7-2 run in the first five minutes of the half.  Harrisburg responded back quickly with the next four points but the momentum was short lived.  Points off the break was the Lions Achilles heel in the first, allowing York to gain a 14 point lead midway through the half.

The Blue and White battled back by slowing down the Spartan break along with Katlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) hitting a couple of clutch three pointers to help get the deficit down to six at the half.

Lucky Snypse (Philadelphia, Pa. / George Washington Carver) put the team on her shoulders in the second half dominating the boards and bringing an energy level that was missing for most of the game.  The Lady Lions went on a 20-0 run in just over a five minute span to take a 51-39 lead with 10:14 to go in the game.

Despite the momentum and lead shift, the Spartans refused to quit and slowly worked themselves back into the game.  With 5:15 to play York's Shea Wassel went 2-2 from the line to bring the game within seven 55-47.  Wassel was extremely impressive on both ends of the floor finishing the game with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Fortunately for the Lions, Carmo and Snypse refused to let anyone out shine Harrisburg tonight.  Carmo finished with a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Snypse brought the intensity on both ends of the floor to lead the team to victory.

Coach Patrick had this to say following the contest, "Basketball is a game of opportunities.  When they present themselves you have to be ready and willing to take them before you opponent does, and tonight we had multiple people take advantage of their opportunities."

The Lions can forget about their 1-4 non-conference start and focus on the 1-0 record they now have in the CAC after a very impressive home opening win.  Penn State Harrisburg will travel to face off against the Salisbury Seagulls Saturday December 6th
