Yanich Sets Career High; Harrisburg Locks in Playoff Spot

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Harrisburg had a very successful weekend adding two conference wins to their season total.  Sunday's 57-43 win over Morrisville St. also gives the Lions a definite spot into post season play later this month.

The Lion's started tonight's game with the force they finished with yesterday in their win over the Cazenovia Wildcats.  The jump start helped give Harrisburg an 18-6 advantage after Steph Yetter (Thompsontown, Pa. / East Juniata) drained one of her two 3 pointers on the day putting them up by double digits with 8:18 until the half.

The Mustangs slowly chipped away at the lead and knocked it down to seven heading into the locker rooms at halftime.  They started the second half continuing to chip away and after a Lacandice Sanders layup it was a one possession game at 25-23 in Harrisburg's favor with 16:34 to go.

At 11:53 Jasmine Yanich (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) scored two of her career high 17 points, 10 rebound double-double that helped to put the Lions up by seven; this time the Mustang's would not have the time or extra stamina to bring the game back within reach.  The lions took advantage of the opportunity and rested their starters while the bench did their job and more extending the lead and closing the game with professionalism.

The Lions can now feel just a little bit more comfortable having earned a spot in the playoffs. Since Harrisburg started this season with a bigger goal then just making the playoffs, I am sure Coach Patrick will not be letting his foot off the gas until the final whistle of the final game of the season, hopefully sometime this March.

Penn State Harrisburg gets back on the Road Wednesday February 6th, when they travel to face off against the Gallaudet Bison for another double header alongside the men.
