Scrappy Play Equates to Scrappy Win for Lions

MIDDLETOWN, Pa-   The Penn State Harrisburg Lady Lions had to work hard for their win tonight over the Goucher Gophers 59-47.  The atmosphere was intense from the start as almost every player on the court tonight also hit the deck either chasing down a loose ball or taking the brunt of one of the many hard fouls coming from both teams.

The lady lions started the game on fire with a 14-0 run in the first five minutes of play.  Goucher would not let the game get out of hand and answered back with a 12-2 run to make it a 4 point game at the 10:14 mark of the first half.

Amanda Moyer (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) went on to score the next five points shutting down the Gopher scoring drive and giving Harrisburg some extra breathing room.  The lions would go into the half with a 14 point lead and a score of 31-17.

Over the first 6 minutes of the second half Goucher was able to cut the deficit down to nine.  Lucky Snypse  (Philadelphia, Pa. / George Washington Carver of Engineering and Science) did not appreciate the score and responded with the next 7 points putting them up by sixteen.  Snypse had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Mikhail Whitcomb (Trevorton, Pa. / Line Mountain) added some nice minutes of the bench tonight as some extra ball handling was definitely needed.  The scrappy game included 55 turnovers between both squads.

Harrisburg is now 7-2 overall and has an exciting conference matchup Saturday against SUNY IT.  The lions will host the men's and women's double header with the ladies leading off at 12:00.
