Middletown, Pa. – The blue and white young squad brought a veteran performance tonight for their first conference win of the season.  Harrisburg put together a solid defensive effort on the way to a 77-58 win over the College of St. Elizabeth Eagles.

Mercedes Copeland (Reading, Pa. / Reading) put the lady lions up with two early three pointers and a jump shot to put the lady lions up 12-4 at 14:51.

After a foul by tone setting LUCKY Snypse (Philadelphia, Pa. / George Washington Carver of Engineering and Science) 12:27  left in the first half, the blue and white turned up the pressure and followed it with a 9 point run and a score of 26-7 at the 10:10 mark of the first half.

Miranda Zeanchock  (Carrolltown, Pa. / Cambria Heights) was on fire from the three point line today.  She hit some deep balls late in the half that helped give the lions a 19 point lead at halftime.

Harrisburg started the half a little slow and the hard working Eagles took advantage of the quick lapse to score the first four points of the half and cut the deficit to 15.

Zeanchock would hit a three that kept the lions feeling comfortable.  She did this more than a few times going 6-8 from the field and 4-6 behind the arc scoring a strong 22 coming off the bench.

Coach Patrick did not let his team coast to the finish by any means.  He used all of his time outs early keeping his team focused on the details.  "It's about the possession in the close games.  We give up those two possessions and we lose.  That is why we play hard every possession." Coach Ross was overheard teaching from one of his early secondhalf timeout huddles.

The team definitely heard him and also showed it on the court.  Not to mention scoring 28 points from the foul line as many of the lady lions were taking the ball hard to the net earning trips to the foul line.

Harrisburg hopes to build on their 2-game win streak Thursday night when they host Lancaster Bible "Donate a Children's book night" for a 6:00 tip off.  Make sure to get there on time so you don't miss the lions exciting pre-game announcement show.
