Lady Lions Back on Track

MIDDLETOWN, PA - Penn State Harrisburg women´s basketball get back on track with their sixth victory of the season over the visiting Lady Lions of Penn State York, 65-38. This win gives Penn State Harrisburg their first win coming back from break and gets them back to .500 on the season.

Penn State Harrisburg´s defense came out strong, forcing Penn State York to turn over the ball eight times before York could score double digit points with 8:22 remaining in the first half. York slowly began to crawl back into the game after a dominating beginning by Penn State Harrisburg. With a late surge and a three-point basket by Samantha Noel with :09 remaining the visiting Lions were within twelve at halftime.

Penn State Harrisburg´s two seniors and co-captains, Sandra Adames (Pontiac Northern/Pontiac, MI) andKrystal Miranda (Bound Brook/S. Bound Brook, NJ), combined for the blue and white´s first eight points of the second half to put them back up by fifteen. With Harrisburg´s depth on the bench and York´s lack of a bench with only one sub, Harrisburg begin to stretch their lead as much as 29 with 1:32 remaining in the half. Penn State Harrisburg´s bench combined for 30 of the team´s 65 points in route to their latest victory.

Penn State Harrisburg was led by Adames as she poured in 16 points as well as pulling down 17 rebounds. She was 5-for-12 from the field including 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Newcomer Dorothea Dixon (Middletown/Middletown, PA) was everywhere with 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and six steals. Freshman Amaris Gardner (Bayside/Virginia Beach, VA) tallied in eight points with three rebounds. Sophomore Elizabeth Bard (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown, PA) chipped in with seven points and three steals.

Penn State York was led by Lindsey Mumma, who scored 13 points, with 10 rebounds, four steals and four blocks. Noel added 11 points, three rebounds, and two assists. The blue and white return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host D´Youville College. Tip time at Capital Union Building is set for 1:00 P.M.
