NEAC Announces Winter Sports Competition Halted For Remainder of 2020

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) President's Council unanimously voted to postpone all conference competition for the remainder of 2020. With fall competition already suspended, this decision will delay the potential start of conference play until after Jan. 1, 2021.

In conjunction with the announcement, Penn State Harrisburg's intercollegiate varsity programs will not take part in any athletic competition for the remainder of the fall semester. At this time, no decision regarding a date for return to athletic competition has been made.

The Commonwealth Campus Athletics Safety Subcommittee continues to monitor University, national organization, state, and local guidelines relative to the resocialization of intercollegiate athletics on our campuses, with decisions specific to competition driven by campus' respective conferences. Each conference has an administrative review and voting process that engages the leadership of its member institutions.

Penn State Harrisburg, along with Penn State Abington and Penn State Berks, are members of the NEAC. The conference will continue to explore opportunities for campuses to engage their student-athletes.
