Nearly 90 Student-Athletes Named NEAC Scholar-Athletes

LATHAM, N.Y. – A total of 86 Penn State Harrisburg student-athletes have been named 2019-20 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Scholar-Athlete selections.

Penn State Harrisburg's total was part of a record 1,026 NEAC Scholar-Athlete selections from 12 full member institutions and nine associate member schools for the 2019-20 academic year.

In order to earn the conference's academic distinction, a student-athlete competing in a conference-sponsored sport must achieve a combined grade point average (GPA) of 3.4 or higher for the fall and spring semesters, while remaining in good standing on his or her team.

Among the honorees is NCAA Division III Statistical Champion (block solos) and NEAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Year Brittany Ebaugh, as well as all-conference first teamers in women's basketball's Kendis Butler and women's soccer's Mackenzie Haladay and Rhyan Socash. Baseball players Zak Koroneos and Chase Smith began the year on the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's Division III Players to Watch List and ended it with the NEAC's academic accolade.

Most impressively, 11 Penn State Harrisburg student-athletes hold cumulative GPAs of 3.9 or higher after the most-recent campaign, including baseball's Simeon Davis, Brandon Feltman, Hunter Merritt, and Thomas Westers, women's basketball's Laurel Amey and Butler, women's tennis' Courtney Bennett, Abigail Clifford, and Rachael Lim, women's volleyball's Alexis Imler, and men's soccer's Jacob Krantweiss.

Women's basketball and women's volleyball had the highest percentage of student-athletes earn the honor with 10 of each of the team's 13 players recognized (77 percent). Baseball was the top men's squad with 16 honorees (43 percent).
