MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team clinched a spot in the United East Volt Division Championship thanks to 5-0 playoff victory over Penn State Abington in semifinal action at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
The hometown Lions (13-6) set the tone in doubles play, with the teams of Olivia Bandini and Sophia Bandini, along with Anita Liu and Sarah Shaub earning 8-0 sweeps in the second and third contests. The top duo of Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis also cruised to an 8-2 victory in the No. 1 outing.
Singles action saw both Bandini sisters, DeSantis, and Liu roll to convincing victories to clinch the overall win, while Wootton and Hailey Dey were each leading by a comfortable margin when the match was sealed.
Top-seeded Penn State Harrisburg will turn its attention to conference rival and No. 2 seed St. Mary's (Md.) and the United East Volt Division Final on Saturday afternoon. First serve at the Hoverter Tennis Complex is scheduled for 2 p.m.
