MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track & field teams are set to take part in the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships at Christopher Newport this weekend. Competition is set to begin on Friday afternoon with the men's high jump, the women's long jump and the men's weight throw at 4 p.m. Fans can keep up with all the action thanks to live results.

MEN'S TEAM

After posting a fifth-place team finish at last year's conference championship event, the men are again paced by seniors Jalil Clayton and Cameron Yon, as well as junior Alex White. Clayton's top 60m hurdle time of 8.15 seconds is currently best in the conference and ninth-best in the nation. Yon's best efforts in both the weight throw (16.88 meters) and shot put (14.32 meters) have him ranked second overall among conference competitors. White has posted the second-best mark among CAC athletes in the high jump (1.98 meters), while also ranking fourth in the long jump with a top leap of 6.84 meters. Clayton is a two-time CAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week and White earned CAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors in December.

Sophomore Shammah Gahomera ranks second to Clayton in the 60m hurdles, while freshman Dominick Hogans joins Clayton among top-10 competitors in the 60m, 200m and 400m dashes. Junior Andrew Bomberger sits fourth among CAC competition in the pole vault and Lars Weyant currently ranks eighth in the conference in the weight throw. Thanks to the team's emerging depth, the Lions hope to make a push to improve upon last season's finish.

WOMEN'S TEAM

The Blue & White women posted a sixth-place team finish at the 2018 CAC Championships but looked poised to make a little more noise this winter. The Lions are led by reigning CAC Indoor Rookie of the Year Sarah Lehman, fellow sophomore Rae Rae Taylor and newcomers Aiyala McPhee and Neeyah Turner. Lehman's best triple jump effort of 11.60 meters is a conference record and is good enough to rank her eighth in the nation. She will look to defend her 2018 conference title in the event on Saturday. The sophomore has also been strong in the long jump and currently ranks second among league competitors. Taylor won the 2018 CAC Championship in the long jump and will look to repeat, as her top mark of 5.37 meters is best among conference competitors. She also holds a share of the best high jump mark in the conference at 1.60 meters. Both Lehman and Taylor also rank top-five in the 60m hurdles. The former is a three-time CAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week this season, while the latter earned the same honor two weeks ago.

McPhee sits second in the CAC in the 60m dash with a time of 7.94 seconds, while Turner follows closely behind in fourth with a mark of 8.09 seconds. The duo, along with Turner, also rank among the top 10 in the 200m dash. Turner also ranks ninth among CAC runners in the 400m dash. Helping the youngsters accumulate points will be senior Rachale Hair and sophomore Jamilyn Nimo, with the duo participating in the weight throw and shot put events. If all goes according to plan, the Lions hope to be looking at an even better finish than last winter.

WHAT'S NEXT?

With indoor season winding down, it's off to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships in New York City next weekend. From there, a handful of Penn State Harrisburg student-athletes will hope that their efforts have earned them the right to compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in Boston, Mass. in early March.
