Ashley Williams Ends Season Strong at NCAA Championships

Naperville, IL. - The Penn State Harrisburg women's track and field team continues to make strides as a program and in 2017 added another important step.  Ashley Williams offiically become the Lions first competitor to attend the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships that were held on March 10th and 11th at North Central College in Naperville Illinois.

Williams road to the NCAA Championship was paved with success.  She claimed a second straight Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship by breaking her own conference record in the 60 meter hurdle with her 8.95 finish.

She followed the CAC Championships with a first place finish in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship on March 3-4, earning her a spot in the NCAA Championship as the 16th ranked hurdler in the country.  Williams finished her indoor season with an impressive run that moved her up to 11th place and just short of competing in the final event.  With two more years to compete in the event that was filled with upperclassemen, Williams could be in real contention to be a four year conference champion with a chance at a national championship over the next two years.
