women's soccer players celebrate after kyla brossoit's goal in a win over bryn mawr in 2023

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team secured its second shutout victory of the young season with a 2-0 decision over non-conference opponent Bryn Mawr in the team's home opener on Wednesday night.

Kyla Brossoit and Serenity Hill provided the scoring, while Sydney Hemler recorded two points by assisting on both markers. Katherine Eimer also made five saves in goal to record the first win of her career.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (2-1) controlled the pace for much of the evening in the team's second victory of the year, netting a pair of goals and nearly tacking on a few more throughout the night. Eimer answered the call in goal and preserved the clean sheet with a handful of crucial stops.

The Lions broke through in the 25th minute when Hemler lofted a ball from midfield towards a streaking Brossoit who raced past the Bryn Mawr back line, beat goalkeeper Natalia Chorzepa to the ball, and finished off the play by looping past Chorzepa before calmly burying the game's first goal with a low strike.

The home team had a number of chances to add to its advantage in the second half and finally did so when Olivia Inch connected with a driving Hemler who crossed a ball from the right sideline into the Bryn Mawr box and found a sliding Hill for the finish from point blank range in the 67th minute.

The Owls (1-1-1) upped the intensity down the stretch and got off three shots on target in the final 20 minutes but Eimer turned away each attempt to preserve the shutout victory.
