York, Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer team finished their season Wednesday afternoon facing off against last year's Capital Athletic Conference champs York College.
The Lions started strong, holding off the Spartans attack for the first fifteen minutes of the game as both teams had their share of the ball. Unfortunately for Harrisburg, a costly miscue in the back gave York an easy opportunity on goal that was placed into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead that held to halftime.
Harrisburg hoped to get things going in the second half, but the Blue and White just seemed out of steam after a long hard fought season. York was able to score two more goals before the end of regulation for the 3-0 win.
Coach Clay had this to say following the match, "I am proud of our team's improvement this season. We fought in every game and showed we can compete with the best teams in the CAC. We have to take the hard lessons we learned this season and move forward. It is a long climb to the top, but I left this season knowing we have a team that will do what it takes to get us there."
The Lions finished their final third of the season starting five freshman, this should be a good sign for the future of the program.
