Frederick, Md. – The Lady Lions women's soccer team allowed a slow start to determine the outcome against Hood College Saturday afternoon.  Harrisburg came out a little too relaxed, which in turn put them down 1-0 just 54 seconds into the contest.

Following the early set back, the Blue and White played one of their best games to date.  The women really stepped up their play as they moved the ball from side to side from the back line as well as the midfield.  This helped the ladies to get the ball into their offensive final third consistently. 

Unfortunately for most of the first half, that is where the play stopped.  Going into the second half Harrisburg lost a tiny bit of the quality play, but worked hard to get the ball into dangerous areas.  The Lions got seven shots off compared to the Blazers three but were unable to tie things up and had to settle for a good game played and 1-0 loss.

Harrisburg's Samantha Kutcher (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) and Morgan Gates (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) were the standouts of the day for the Lions.  Kutcher had a breakout game off the bench at center mid, while Gates was very strong and composed at center back. 

"It was a tough loss because we dominated the run of play, but you have to give Hood credit for capitalizing on our early miscue."  Assistant Coach Rudy Grubesky continued with, "I was proud of several reserve players who stepped up when we needed them to give us quality minutes, especially Sam who did a great job at center mid."

The Blue and White will return home for their Capital Athletic Conference debut on Wednesday against Marymount University for a 5:00 kickoff.
