How It Happened
The Penn State Harrisburg softball team waited out a two and half hour delay before facing Castleton University. Castleton struck in the top of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI double to right center field. The Lions would answer right back in the bottom of the inning. Katie Humphrey would start the game hitting a ball through the Spartans third baseman's legs to reach base. After Sarah Coolbaugh laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Humphrey into scoring position, Nina Bruno doubled down the third base line, tying the game at one.
The Blue & White's offense kept the momentum, striking in the second inning. After a Kaylee DeMatteo walk and Kaylee Simon single, Delany Nevius would lay down a great bunt, forcing a throwing error from the Spartan's third baseman, allowing DeMatteo to score. Humphrey would then ground out to the short stop, allowing Simon to score giving Harrisburg a 3-1 advantage.
The Lions would tack on another run in the third inning. After singles from Carley Gochenaur and Simon put runners in scoring position, Nevius would single through the left side bringing in the Lions fourth run of the game.
Defending Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) pitcher of the week Allison Hartman settled in after a rocky first inning, allowing just three hits the rest of the game while striking out five Spartans. Coolbaugh would add an insurance run in the sixth inning, when she crushed a double to center field scoring Humphrey putting the game out of reach.
At the Plate
- Sarah Coolbaugh and Nina Bruno each delivered doubles
- 4 Different Lions recorded RBI's (Humphrey, Coolbaugh, Bruno and Nevius)
- Kaylee Simon went 2-2 and scored a run

- Allison Hartman continued rolling improving to 3-0 this season, striking out five Spartans. Hartman currently holds an ERA of 0.32 this season

How It Happened
The Lions offense got off to a quick start, taking an early lead in the second inning. Allison Hartman crushed a double to left field to lead off the inning. After Hartman advance to third on a wild pitch, Carlee Gochenaur drove Hartman in, singling to left field.
Harrisburg would increase its advantage in the third inning. Maddie Krantz and Sarah Coolbaugh got hit by pitches and Katie Humphrey drew a walk to load the bases. Hartman continued her momentum, tripling down the right field line, driving in three RBI's and putting the Lions ahead 4-0.
The Royals would claw back in the game plating one run in the fourth inning and tying the game in the fifth inning. With the score tied in the top of the sixth inning, The Lions would threaten to recapture the lead. Allison Hartman singled to lead off the inning, recording her third hit of the game. Relief pitcher Mary-Kate Penczkowski kept the momentum going, singling to left field. Gochenaur laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both runners into scoring position. The Blue & White could not capitalize, and Eastern Mennonite plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning putting the game out of reach.
At the Plate
- Allison Hartman had huge game at the plate, going 3-3 with a double and triple while driving in 3 RBI's
- Carlee Gochenaur went 1-2 driving in her sixth RBI of the season

- Allison Hartman started the game adding two more strikeouts in two innings of action
