Penn State Harrisburg Splits with Mary Washington

Penn State Harrisburg took on Mary Washington in a conference double-header. The Lions beat the Eagles 3-2 before falling 8-0.

In game one, both teams started the game in a defenses struggle going three innings without scoring a run. The Eagles would open up the scoring in the top of the 4th when an RBI double knocked home the first run of the game. The Lions would fight back after a Kristin Evans (Harrisburg, Pa. / Dauphin County Technical) single brought home Jazmine Yanch (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) to tie the game at one. After another scoreless inning the Lions would take the lead when Erelle Sowers (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton Area), two RBI double to take the lead 3-1. The Eagles would threaten in the top of the 7th, after a hit batter and a double put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. After a line out for the first out, the Eagles would score one after a ground out to second, the Lions shut the door after a ground out to the short stop to give the game to the Lions, 3-2.

In game two, the Lions could not figure out the strong pitching from the Eagles, the Lions only managed two hits during the game. After two Illegal Pitches scored two runs in the 2nd, the Eagles would find their groove scoring three in the 3rd, two in the 4th, and one in the 5th to give the game to the Mary Washington 8-0.

The Lions will be in action tomorrow April 3rd, when they take on Christopher Newport at home, starting at 1 PM.
