Penn State Harrisburg Splits with Wilson

Middletown, Pa.- Penn State Harrisburg took on Wilson College in a non-conference double header. The Lions took game one 9-0 before falling to the Phoenix 4-2.

In game one, the Lions came out swinging early, scoring two quick runs in the 1stinning as Jackie Furch (Hallstead, Pa. / Blue Ridge) and Amanda Hartman (Reading, Pa. / Oley Valley) each recorded a RBI. The Lions continued their hot start by scoring four in the 2nd and three in the 3rd highlighted by Rieley Loch (Madison Township, Pa. / North Pocono) hitting a two RBI triple as the Lions took the game by the score of 9-0. The Lions were able to shut down Wilson's offense thanks to an outstanding performance on the mound by Hartman who threw a complete game shutout while only allowing three hits and a walk.

In game two, the Lions jumped on top early again scoring in the bottom of the first off a Carlee Gochenaur (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) RBI single to give the Lions the 1-0 lead. After three scoreless innings Wilson found their offense scoring two runs in the 5th and 6th innings to take the 4-1 lead. But another RBI by Gochenaur in the bottom of the 6th would bring the game within two, but the Lions were unable to bring the game any closer and eventually falling 4-2.

Loch led the Lions at the plate as she went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and two walks in the two games. Hartman and Gochenaur also knocked home two runs each on the day.

Penn State Harrisburg will next be in action Saturday March 26th as they open conference play when they travel to Frostburg State. First pitch is scheduled for 1 P.M.
