Penn State Harrisburg Walks-off against Stevenson

Penn State Harrisburg took on Stevenson University in a non-conference double-header. The Lions Split with the Mustangs 5-4 and 8-0.

 

In game one, Penn State Harrisburg could not find their bats early, getting in an early 2-0 hole through the first two innings, before an error on the Stevenson pitcher allowed two to score to tie the game up. Erelle Sowers (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton Area) would knock in Amanda Hartman (Reading, Pa. / Oley Valley) later in the inning to give the Lions the 3-2 lead after three. Emily Parmer (Willow Street, Pa. / Solanco) added a RBI single in the 4th to increase the lead to two. The Mustangs would not go away quietly scoring a run in the top of 5th and 7th innings to tie the game at four. With runners starting at second base in extra innings the Lions where able to shut down Stevenson's bats before Jenna Rupakus (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) would single up the middle to score Jasmine Yanich (Harrisburg, Pa. / Susquehanna Township) in the bottom of the eighth to give the Lions the 5-4 walk off win.

 

In game two the Lions could not figure out the Mustangs starting pitcher as she was able to hold the Lions to three hits in her six innings of work.

 

Parmer and Rupakus, led the way for the Lions as they went a combined 6 for 10 with two RBIs in the two games.

 

The Lions will be in action again this Thursday March 25, when they take on Wilson College in a non-conference double-header, starting at 3 PM.
