North Myrtle Beach, SC.- The Penn State Harrisburg softball team traveled to South Carolina for their spring break trip. The women started off their week today with a loss to Eastern, 5-3, and a win against Rhode Island College, 7-6.
In Harrisburg's second game of the day, the Lady Lions came out hot in the first inning with six of their seven runs. Furch doubled at bat first with two RBI's. Emily Parmer (Willow Street, Pa. / Solanco) and Kristen Evans (Harrisburg, Pa. / Dauphin County Technical) also doubled in the first with a combined total of three runs in to home plate. Rhode Island came out strong in the second inning with four runs due to two errors by the Lions, a single, and a wild pitch. Sowers gave up only one hit in four innings while striking out four batters. Rhode Island made one last effort at the top of the third to overcome Harrisburg's early lead. The Lions stood strong and finished the game with their first win of the season.
Harrisburg will take on King's (Pa.) tomorrow at 1:30 followed by Anna Maria at 3:30.
