Wolfe Strong from Mound in Split with Mustangs

Owings Mills, Md. – After splitting a double header against Albright College on Senior Day the day before, the Lady Lions looked to continue their playoff push when they traveled to Stevenson University on Sunday April 26th for a double header match-up against the Mustangs.

Penn State Harrisburg started game one by scoring two runs in the first to take the early 2-0 lead. But Stevenson quickly answered by scoring one run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 2-1. Senior Gabrielle Wolfe (New Milford, Pa. / Blue Ridge) had an outstanding performance on the mound by pitching a complete game and only allowing one run to help secure the 2-1 win for the Blue and White.

Stevenson struck first in game two in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Lions looked to rebound as they had runners in position, but were unable to capitalize.  The Mustangs scored three more runs in the 3rd and one in the 4th to take a 5-0 lead heading into the fifth. Down 5-0 in the 5th, the Blue and White looked to rally by scoring three runs to make it 5-3 thanks to a 3-run shot by Rieley Loch (Madison Township, Pa. / North Pocono).

Unfortunately, Stevenson quickly answered in the bottom half by scoring two more runs and eventually pulled out the game two win 7-3.  Head coach Tonya Dengler was pleased with the performance, "The team is playing consistent softball right now, which is what we need to finish the season strong and continue our push for the post season."

Penn State Harrisburg will continue their playoff push when they travel to Wilson College on Tuesday April 28th in a double header match-up against the Phoenix. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
