Johnson-Crowder Named Track & Field/XC Head Coach

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg Director of Athletics Rahsaan Carlton has announced the hiring of Kadine Johnson-Crowder as the school's new men's and women's track & field and cross country head coach. She is set to become just the second head coach in program history.

"We are thrilled to bring Kadine on board as our next track & field and cross country coach," said Carlton. "She has proven to be an excellent recruiter and is passionate about preparing students for life beyond college. Her experience as a coach at the Division I, II, and III levels has prepared her well to lead our program. She will be a tremendous addition to our campus community."

Most recently, Johnson-Crowder served as an assistant coach in charge of throws at Division II Wayne State for two-plus seasons. Prior to joining the WSU staff, she served as an assistant at Division III Amherst in 2018-19 after coaching throws at Division I Louisiana Tech for three seasons. She was an assistant on the Texas Pan-American (UTPA) staff for two years following a two-year stint as a volunteer assistant at Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) from 2011 to 2013.

"I wish words could accurately express how I feel in this moment," said Johnson-Crowder. "What I can say is that the immense joy I feel joining Penn State Harrisburg is only matched by my desire to help guide our team to unimaginable heights."

As an athlete, she competed internationally for Jamaica and earned the runner-up spot in the hammer throw at the 2011 World Championship Trials, nearly qualifying for the Olympics as the country's third-ranked thrower. Johnson-Crowder was a standout collegiate athlete as well, starring at Albany. While there, she set program records in the hammer throw (outdoor) and weight throw (indoor) and won a pair of America East Conference Championships in the events during her senior campaign.

Johnson-Crowder earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Albany in 2011. She earned a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from UMBC in 2013 before earning a second Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Grambling State in 2018.
