Track & Field Impresses During Season Opener at Millersville

LANCASTER, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track & field teams finally returned to outdoor competition after a 672-day hiatus. Both squads turned in very promising performances at the Millersville Little Meet hosted by Millersville on Saturday afternoon, March 27.

"With a full heart, I want to share that I am so proud of this group of people that have come together to reignite our team," said head coach Danielle Lynch regarding the cohesiveness of her squads. "We have never been so positive, supportive, and appreciative of each other and the ability to compete. I'm thrilled to start the season in this way. We had some fantastic, marks and some amazing firsts. I'm grateful."

On the men's side, Andrew Bomberger, Alex White, Joseph Rebarchak III, and Ian Adams were especially strong. Bomberger won the pole vault and set a new program record with a top clear of 4.50m, White won the high jump with a top leap of 1.95m, Adams earned a runner-up finish and set a new program record in the 5,000m run, and Rebarchak III set a new personal best with a toss of 11.40m in the shot put. Jackson Yanich also debuted with a fourth-place in the 100m dash thanks to a time of 11.34 seconds.

White's effort is good enough to rank him eighth in the nation, while Bomberger's mark currently ranks him 12th in NCAA Division III.

The women turned in a number of strong efforts as well, led by Alexandria Morrison's time of 1:11.39 in the 400m hurdles; a number good enough to rank her third all-time in program history.  Teyenne Jonca just missed out on earning a top-3 spot in the record book with her leap of 5.00m in the long jump and Abagail Marquardt secured a top-10 finish in the 800m run behind a jaunt of 2:55.07.

The Blue & White will look to build on their stout opening outing when they return to action at West Chester's Golden Rams Invitational on Saturday afternoon, April 3.
