NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Penn State Harrisburg wrapped up another historic weekend at the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of Christopher Newport on Saturday afternoon, May 4.

Seniors Cameron Yon and Jalil Clayton were named the CAC Men's Co-Athletes of the Year, freshman Dominick Hogans earned CAC Men's Rookie of the Year honors and the Lions ended the weekend with seven conference championships and 11 all-conference accolades.

Yon set a new CAC Championships and facility record when he won gold in the discus throw with a toss of 54.45 meters. His effort was tops among all competitors by more than nine meters. Clayton swept the hurdle events thanks to a time of 53.49 seconds in the 400m race and a mark of 14.89 in the 110m event. Hogans secured the first conference title of his young career with a scamper of 22.02 seconds in the 200m dash, while Alex White was the fourth men's athlete to win a conference championship after bounding 6.92 meters in the long jump.

Clayton racked up points in the 200m dash, high jump and long jump events before teaming up with Hogans, Cole Hovis and Kadeem Willis to win bronze in the 4x400m relay. Hogans also scored points in the 100m and 400m dashes, Shammah Gahomera took silver in the 110m hurdles and tallied points in the 400m hurdle event, and White added bronze in the high jump.

Sarah Lehman led the way on the women's side, winning her second conference title in as many days thanks to her top leap of 5.25 meters in the long jump. Fellow sophomore Rae Rae Taylor put her versatility on display once more, as she won silver in the javelin throw and high jump events. She also secured points in the 100m and 200m dashes, as well as the long jump and 100m hurdles.

Neeyah Tuner added to Penn State Harrisburg's medal count when she picked up bronze in the 400m hurdles after finishing fourth in the 100m hurdle event. Aiyala McPhee also tabbed valuable points in the 200m and 400m dashes, while Sephora Senestant contributed with a sixth-place finish in the 400m hurdles. In the field, Rachale Hair added points in the discus and javelin as well.

With the conference title meet behind them, a select number of Lions will return to action at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Championship event in Connecticut in two weeks.
